Patreon is a way for me to make a living doing comics. I've been creating webcomics for over a decade. Some of my past series are "YU+ME: dream," "I Was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space!!!" and "Darlin' It's Betta Down Where It's Wetta," to name a few. I tend to focus on female characters, with lots of queer and body-positive content. I want to actively court readers who aren't normally represented in comics. Right now, because I also have a day job, I don't have the time or energy to post more than one page a week. I'd love to be able to spend more time doing comics. You can help.
Patreon is like a mini kickstarter. Smaller rewards, more frequently, for smaller amounts of money. It's a way to make a somewhat steady income as an artist. Even $1 helps, because it combines with $1 from other people and turns into many dollars that I can pay bills with.
I'll be setting up a sketch blog with exclusive drawings, behind-the-scenes of the making of the pages, and snippets of the script. If you're interested in how I create comics, this is an excellent way to see all the details. It's been updating every Monday. I'd like to get back to doing a comic on a MWF schedule, so there's some milestone goals for that.
If things go well, I'd like to be able to work on a secondary series as well, and I have several potential stories I'd like to pursue, following the trend of female-driven, queer/sex/body-positive, adventurous stories. In the past, I've always worked on several series at the same time, and at one point I was producing 6 pages of comics per week, so while it sounds a little wild to do so much, I've done more before. I have a lot of stories I'd like to tell.
