I think that asking for MOAR UPDATESS is a form of praise as far as it is done politely.
No one has said here: "OMG U CAN'T KEEP UP U SUX!!!". However, if she didn't have other comics and websites updated regularly, no one would have complained I think.
I've seen written on her tumblr that she has no time to dedicate to this comic: okay! Thing is... why doesn't she tell us here? Just how much time it takes to write a brief post to an audience who loves your webcomic "hey I have so much to do I can't keep up"? No one needs this comic to live, so of course nothing is owed, but it is deeply appreciated!

It looks like someone asked Megan about MY via her Tumblr, and got an answer. Here is a link. Looks like there is still quite a wait.

Since Megan has time to do all the other things you've mentioned, perhaps two sentences posted here is not an unreasonable expectation.
Already read Yu+Me, don't subscribe to Filthy Figments, don't follow ANYONES's Tumbler,Facebook page or Twitter.
I'm not into social media or interconnectedness (bleah!) beyond having a small amount of contacts on Flickr.
Have not been able to get into LPFOS.
Quite a few comics I like have ended or have slowed to almost standstill, in most cases, the artist has taken the time to say why.

^Same here! I find much curiosity or frustration as a reader/fan is eased once the creator's other internet avenues are explored.

Well... I guess my opinion is... I follow her Tumblr, and she seems to have a lot of projects going on (Meaty Yogurt, LPFOS, Filthy Figments, secret projects that she can't disclose for some reason, etc.). And I'm pretty sure she said somewhere (probably Tumblr) that the story flow is working better for her by updating in chapters instead of rushing to get regular updates done. I guess I don't relate to everyone else feeling hurt about this because I follow so many Megan things that I'm not going through a withdrawal on just this comic.

I have also seen much, much longer hiatuses than this from comics I like (Marry Me, AppleGeeks, The Meek, Hanna Is Not a Boy's Name, Doctor Cat, MadWillow), so I guess two months is not a big deal to me...

Once I like a comic, I start following nearly all the author's social media outlets; even if the comic dies for a bit, I at least know what's going on. All of these posts about people quitting on the comic and feeling disrespected that she hasn't updated on the comic website itself make me realize not everyone is like me in that aspect...

I love HE. Joel has a wonderful habit of communicating and being generally candid with his readers. I admire the way he handles everything about his lack of schedule, his business, his interaction with fans. Even without the regular schedule, HE and Joel are the comic property I spend the most money on. I buy the shirts, the books, sketches at cons, toss money in the tip jar, link all my friends.

This artist has been updating her Tumblr daily, as well as creating other art and comics. So it appears she is just ignoring THIS comic, THIS group of fans. She is not taking 60 seconds to post a line or two to let people know if this comic is even still to be active. There is really no way any of us can assume the meaning behind that, it it comes of as that she just doesn't care.

No one has been rude, or greedy, or insulting. No one here has acted entitled. I have seen only polite discussion, as well as an UNDERSTANDABLE request for information and clarification so people can stop wasting their time checking. Considering the role fans play in the long run, that seems to be a perfectly logical and fair query. Megan DID after all ask us how we felt regarding the updates. That kind of tells people, "hey, I care how you feel!" By completely ignoring that and discontinuing communication is going to create a lot of confusion no matter what.

I have mixed feelings, but that the artist "owes" us anything is kind of ridiculous and not something I agree with as a creative person. But some of Kiki's comments about business are interesting...I assume the comic you are referring to is Hijinks Ensue? Joel is very present with his readers, ongoing regular contact and information about "The experiment", and how his comic is supporting (or failing to) support him and his family is something he chooses to share. He also ASKS for feedback and criticism, not an easy thing to do. As I said earlier, self employed business people each have their own path, and there is a huge learning curve. Personally I know I could of been more successful if I had done some things differently, whether I'd be happier???

I would never belittle the time, creativity and effort Megan puts into this wonderful comic. But when it comes to communication, it is simply the smart (business-wise), easy (is it really so hard to do?), reasonable and polite thing to post a line or two so readers know what is going on.

The rebel(or child) in me immediately wants to do the opposite, whenever I am pushed...perhaps that's what we're all doing to Megan here?

In case the so called "ass kissery" in my recent comment was in any way offensive to the author, I sincerely apologize. I may get too overexcited sometimes.

Still, I keep my opinion.
Yes, I understand that once a story is "out there", it doesn't belong only to the author anymore. Specially when it is an awesome story, we all get attached to the characters. It mobilizes our emotions - anxiety, curiosity - so in some way we need some closure (even if it is a partial one). We have every right to feel sad/frustrated when a story freezes.
What I don't agree with are the ways some people tries to deal with this, trying to make the author feel shitty about it.
It is not "ass-kissery" to give my oppinion: I believe that Megan does an awesome work - as an storyteller, and as a graphic artist. I don't know how much time does she take to make one page of M Yogurt, but I'm pretty sure it takes a lot. Time AND effort - well, that's what actually "work" means ^^
I don't remember right now how many pages did Megan post of this story, but I'm sure there's A LOT of work in there. Is she being paid for this? I don't believe the sponsors, or the donations covers for that. I also don't believe anyone can compare THAT work, to the "tiresome task" of taking 30 seconds each day to click on the webpage and the sponsor's sites (as important that is).
Of course, money is not the only thing that provides satisfaction at work. To keep up fans, enjoying and commenting you're work, feeds a lot. And yes, Kiki, fans should be respected! But still, it is hard for me to understand Megan's delay to respond as literally "disrespect".

If it makes us sad that she hasn't posted, or sent any news.. yeah, we miss her, we miss the comic. But that doesn't make it right for anyone to act like her boss/supervisor/teacher, telling her "do this or you'll be a failure", etc.
(I'm writing this about her, but the same applies to other webcomics)
