Info

So what is this comic about anyway?

Really? You want to know what it’s about? You’ve read the title and you still think it might be about two guys who sit around playing video games and making fun of everything in the world? Seriously, it’s about a woman who gets herself kidnapped by lesbian pirates from outer space. It’s funny. You’ll laugh.

When does it update?

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at around midnight EST.

So who draws this thing?

Megan Rose Gedris. I write it, pencil it, ink it, color it, and letter it. When do I sleep?!

I also do another webcomic called YU+ME. It also has lesbians.

Does this mean that I am a lesbian? I am indeed. But before you ask, I will not marry you. Sorry.

Can I at least watch you on your livejournal??

Yes. It is there for posting LPFOS news along with the occasional snippets of my personal life. If I didn’t want you to read it, I wouldn’t put it on the internet.

How do you draw it?

The first volume (issue 1-6) were drawn with pencil on paper, then traced in ink, scanned, and colored with Paint Shop Pro 7.
I have a Wacom Cintiq now. I draw right on the screen, and now I use Photoshop.

How did you learn to draw?

By doing nothing but practicing for years and years. I also read a lot of good comics that inspire me.

Where do you get the ideas for the story?

Oh, it was based on true story. (Kidding!) Lesbian Pirates came about from my love of old 1950’s pulp paperback novels and comics. Three of the most common elements were pirates, sci-fi/aliens, and lesbians. No joke. And let me tell you, those things were some of the most sexist, awful things ever. So Lesbian Pirates parodies a lot of it.

Why do you hate men?

Wh-what? I don’t! I might not want to sleep with them, but guys are just fine with me!
Look, this comic spoofs the old sexist comics and novels of the Cold War era. There is exaggeration and hyperbole. Yes, as far as the first part of the story goes, the men in it are bad and/or incompetent fools. Well, consider the fact that there is only 1 main male character, and a few who grace a page or two. There’s plenty more story to tell, and we will see some nice guys.

Will you link to my comic?

If I find it on my own and like it, I’ll link it. But I don’t do link exchanges. I just don’t have the time, and I’m kind of unorganized.

How do you make the stuff you sell in the store?

The shirts and tote bags are printed by Brunetto and Blue Collar Press. The buttons are made by Mod Buttons. Posters are printed by Digital Room.

Why can’t I buy copies of Lesbian Pirates from you?

Well, the big reason is, it’s sold out all over the place right now. And also, Platinum Studios is in charge of all the publishing for Lesbian Pirates. (So drop them a line to tell them how badly you want them to do another run! then maybe I’ll get some in stock in my store!)

Who are Platinum Studios?

Platinum is the company that owns the rights to Lesbian Pirates. They are very nice people.

Can I use your work for avatars/myspace layouts/other things?

Avatars, no prob. Myspace layouts, shouldn’t be a problem so long as you credit me somehow with a link back. Other things… well that depends on what it is. I’ve had people put my characters in the backgrounds of their own comics, and it was cool because they asked me. I had another guy write me to ask if I would provide him with a higher-resolution image of some art so he could put it on t-shirts and sell them. … No! So really, the best answer to this question is to ask me if you can use it.
