So I ust wrote an 8,500-word short story today. It is a detective story, based in the Lesbian Pirates universe, and featuring a couple characters who’ve been featured before. It is tawdry and salacious and filled with forbidden passions.

I’m planning to illustrate the story, and I’ll put it up as a donation incentive. Right now, it’s 17 pages typed on letter-sized paper with no illustrations. So adding illustrations and putting it on the smaller, comic-book-sized paper, this thing will easily be 40 pages. That’s like a small novel. Very small novel.

I might try writing a few more and make a collection.

Writing short stories is good for the writer’s soul. Writing long, sweeping epics or serials takes forever, and sometimes, it just feels good to get something done.
